The planting of the seedlings was launched by the institute’s director general, Engineer Worku Gachena, as part of the country’s initiative to plant 500 million seedlings overnight.
“The institute is honored to take part in this national call in which all Ethiopians are participating,” the director general said on the occasion. He also emphasized that the seedlings have economic and food security advantages in addition to protecting the environment. The director general also stated the seedlings would be taken care of to make sure their growth.
In addition to its social responsibilities, the institute is carrying out numerous projects to avail current technologies and modernize the agricultural sector.
The green legacy initiative is being organized for the fifth time this year nationwide. For three years running, the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, which has only been around for three years, has taken part in this environmental initiative.
