The recent exhibition held at the Science Museum, organized by the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, Ethio Telecom, Icog lab, and Ride Technologies, showcased a remarkable robot known as Desta. Desta captivated the attention of numerous attendees with its impressive features and capabilities.
The exhibition serves a dual purpose: not only does it showcase the remarkable advancements the world has achieved in the realm of robotics, but it also aims to ignite inspiration among the youth of Ethiopia in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence.
During his address at the science museum, Eyob Tekalign (PhD), the State Minister of Finance, highlighted the remarkable contributions of Ethiopian youth in introducing their innovative inventions. He emphasized that the robot being showcased at the event symbolizes the advancements in modern technology and artificial intelligence.
According to Mr. Tesfaye Zewdie, the Director of Communication at the Institute of EAII, significant research efforts are being undertaken in the field of artificial intelligence. He further emphasized that robotics holds a prominent position within the institute’s research focus. The showcased robot, in his view, serves as a testament to the promising future of technology.
During the exhibition, Samrawit Fikru, the manager of Ride transport, and Bethlehem Dessie, the chief advisor of icog lab, conveyed a message to the audience.
Desta, the robot, delivered a speech in the Amharic language at the science museum and engaged with the audience by answering their questions.
