The delegation was led by Russia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ambassador Evgeny Terekhin. The Ambassador remarked that he has gained valuable insight into the significant amount of work conducted by Ethiopia in deploying AI for research, development, and implementation within a short period.
The Ambassador noted the numerous developments achieved in a brief timeframe due to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s commitment to utilizing technological advancements for development. Additionally, the Ambassador expressed Russia’s keen interest in partnering with Ethiopia to aid the country’s efforts to advance the ongoing initiatives, beginning with sharing experiences.
The Ambassador explained that the delegation’s, comprised of AI sector professionals, visit is to observe Ethiopia’s experience with the objective of strengthening the technological partnership between the two nations.
The institute’s Deputy General Director Taye Girma (PhD.) welcomed the delegation and provided insight into the operations of the institute. During the briefing, the Deputy General Director elaborated on the institute’s initiatives in the AI sector, which have been operationalized within a condensed timeframe.
