During the handover ceremony, the General Director of the Institute, Worku Gachena (Ph.D.), highlighted that the Institute is engaged in the smart city initiative, which aims to make cities convenient for both residents and visitors. The Director General pointed out that the modern AI-enabled cameras, valued at 70 million birr, were provided to the region, underscoring the Institute’s key role in implementing Ethiopia’s digital strategy.
Deputy Commissioner of the Regional Police Commission, Hassan Mogo, expressed that this support would enhance the region’s capacity to maintain peace and security, particularly in crime prevention through the use of technology. He further noted that the Institute’s AI research and development efforts would accelerate the country’s overall development.
The Deputy Commissioner extended his gratitude to the Institute on behalf of the regional government and its people for this valuable support.
