The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute has established a collaborative partnership with the Harbin Institute of Technology to advance AI-driven innovation in Ethiopia.

During the signing ceremony, the institute’s Deputy General Director, Yitagesu Desalegn, emphasized that this partnership will be pivotal in fostering AI-driven advancements in education, agriculture, and transportation. The delegates from the Harbin Institute expressed their commitment to supporting Ethiopia through specialized AI training initiatives and aiding efforts to modernize the agriculture and transportation sectors.   

The partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the China-Ethiopia Digital Agriculture Laboratory.

Key objectives of this collaboration include the establishment of a joint digital agriculture laboratory, defining cooperative research topics, and fostering collaboration among scientific researchers from both entities. Additionally, both institutes will work together to drive the implementation of digital agriculture industry projects.
