Representatives from the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, and Addis Ababa University participated in the consultation forum organized by the Institute of Foreign Affairs, take place at Skylight Hotel/Addis Ababa/
During the forum, Dr. Taye Girma, the Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, mentioned that besides conducting research in the field, the institute is in the process of approving a national policy that will guide the sector. He emphasized that this will greatly contribute to ensuring Ethiopia’s regional leadership in the field.
Ambassador Eshete Tilahun, the head of the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the transformative impact of artificial intelligence technology in various aspects of our world. He emphasized the importance of understanding how our country should harness this sector and stressed the necessity of such platforms for supporting the sector with policies.
The consultation forum included the presentation and discussion of research papers. Participants raised ideas about the global aspect of artificial intelligence and the promising progress observed in Ethiopia.
