Millions of Filipinos have not been privileged to have a good education. But education is not a privilege. It is a right —a human right.
The United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNSCO) says, “Education is a basic human right that works to raise men and women out of poverty, level inequalities, and ensure sustainable development.”
Artificial intelligence (AI) can be of great help in education. AI is a subfield of computer science “involved in developing intelligent machines capable of doing activities that normally use human intelligence.”
The workplace has dramatically and exponentially changed, but the education system has not kept pace with changes driven by technology, demographic shifts, geopolitical developments and other relevant change drivers.
Knowing that future jobs will require a mixture of high levels of technological skills and soft or social skills, teachers must start preparing secondary students for a wide array of career preparation activities that re-create real-world scenarios in the classroom or workshop.
AI can augment traditional teaching methods by “incorporating technology, data analysis and machine learning algorithms into the learning process.” This integration of AI into the learning process can transform education for students, teachers and school administrators.
