AI is having a moment in the technology conversation. ChatGPT, Bing AI, Google Bard and other generative AI solutions are changing the way we think about what’s possible. This AI revolution is also enabling advancements in both physical and cyber security technology and, consequently, outcomes—particularly in emerging fields like airspace security from and for drones.
Drones are important in a variety of activities. It’s clear that as drones continue to advance, AI models that recognize the behaviour of the drone and models that can definitively identify a drone via image input will play a major role in making our airspace safer.
Ultimately, the impact of AI on keeping our airspace safe is determined by how well it is designed and what it has been trained on. It can augment efforts to keep our skies safe from drones, and it’s already being used to do so in other parts of the world. Working in concert with humans, AI can enable smarter security protocols; more effectively protect spaces from drones and, ultimately, allow for more positive drone usage.
