The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute conducted a knowledge-sharing workshop attended by officials and professionals from ENA, EPA, EBC, and Fana Broadcasting Corporation.
The institute’s Director General Worku Gachena (Ph.D.) led an informative session during the knowledge-sharing workshop. The Director General highlighted the transformative role of AI in media practices and introduction of new concepts. Furthermore, the Director General elaborated on how AI can modernize media operations within institutions to bring them in line with global standards, sharing global insights.
The CEO of Fana Broadcasting Corporation, Admasu Damtew, recognized the significance of AI and its potential for organizations to catch up with international standards. He emphasized that the media industry has a substantial work ahead, not only in integrating artificial intelligence into routine practices but also in educating the public about its impact.
Mesafint Tefera, CEO of the Ethiopian Press Agency, highlighted the importance of the technology in supporting professionals from content creation to broadcasting, emphasizing on the crucial implementation of this experience in Ethiopia’s media industry.
Seifu Derbe, CEO of the Ethiopian News Agency, emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the media sector and the institute. He highlighted the potential of AI technology to serve as a solution center for modernizing the media industry.
Another key point highlighted during the session was the need for close collaboration between the institute and the media sector to tackle the significant challenge of data storage in media organizations.
