The discussion commenced with a speech delivered by Engineer Worku Gachena, the Director General of the Artificial Intelligence Institute.
The director in his opening speech stated that artificial intelligence technology has many fields of applications. However, he emphasized that we need to develop the technology and work closely with higher education institutions to give practical answers to the questions of the public.
During the discussion, the panelists from the two institutions presented research articles and suggestions under the theme “Building Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem in Ethiopia”.
The topics discussed include the rapid advancement of AI technology in Ethiopia within a short span of time, the development of infrastructure and human resources, and the ethical considerations surrounding its usage.
The deputy director of the Artificial Intelligence Institute Taye Girma (Dr) has explained the journey of AI technology in the country and the institute’s activities as a whole and its current situation.
In addition, the researchers have pointed out that infrastructure challenges such as lack of data and data shortage are getting answers from the institute.
Questions and ideas have been raised regarding the research papers presented on the stage and answers and discussions have been held. It has also been pointed out that there will be continuity of such discussion.
