Various African countries’ Ministers of Defense, senior military officials, and military attachés have visited the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute.
The Deputy General Director of the institute, Yitagesu Desalegn, briefed the ministers and military attachés on the institute’s activities.
During the briefing, the Deputy General Director emphasized that the institute is engaged in various initiatives that will enable it to achieve its goal of becoming a center of excellence for AI technology in Africa.
The defense ministers and military attachés expressed their admiration for the institute’s work that they observed during their visit.
They highlighted that the institute has made significant progress towards the goal of addressing African challenges by Africans. They emphasized the importance of expanding such development throughout Africa and urged Ethiopia to strengthen its leadership role by sharing its experience and efforts in the AI sector with other countries.
The Ethiopian Defense Minister, Engineer Aisha Mohamed stated that despite the short period since its establishment, the institute has made significant strides beyond its years. Minister Aisha further remarked that utilizing technology is essential for building a united Africa, stressing the importance of collaboration to cultivate the continent’s potential in leveraging the rapidly advancing AI technology.
